JR Fitzpatrick Gears Up For OSCAAR Delaware Date

@OSCAARRacing • @delawareracing • @J_R_Fitzpatrick • AYR, ON (July 7, 2015) – The OSCAAR Super Late Model tour continues on Friday, July 10 at Delaware Speedway and JR Fitzpatrick is especially ready for a return to his home track.

Fitzpatrick has thousands of laps at the London-area oval as he started his career in the track's Junior Racing League and progressed to the CASCAR Super Series. The Ayr, Ont. native has also tested his new Super Late Model at the track twice this season.

"I'm excited to go to Delaware because I have a boatload of laps there. I've tested twice, so I should have a little bit of an advantage," says Fitzpatrick.

The driver of the Meineke Car Care/Transaxle Parts No.84 looks forward to the big half-mile because of the high level competition it draws. Fitzpatrick will have slightly less power than some cars with a GM Crate Motor under the hood, but he isn't bothered.

"I'm kind of bringing a knife to a gun fight in a way with this crate motor. There's going to be a fair bit of cars so it should be really competitive," says Fitzpatrick.

OSCAAR's Super Late Model tour has not raced at Delaware since 2012, a race won by five-time series champion Rob Clarke. Fitzpatrick turned laps at the track on Monday to make final adjustments for Friday's 50-lap showdown.

"We got the car really good. Judging by the times guys were running there last time, we're right in the ballpark. Hopefully we can make it a little better, put some new tires on it, and prove that you can actually win with a little motor," says Fitzpatrick.

Delaware could prove to be a handle for several drivers on the tour who have not had the chance to race at the trick, egg-shaped facility. Fitzpatrick knows the track inside and out, even with turns three and four refurbished in 2014.

"It's a rough racetrack and very technical because both corners are totally different," says Fitzpatrick. "In turns three and four, you have different lines you can play with because of the new concrete. It's going to be interesting to see who goes where."

The OSCAAR Super Late Models will be joined by the OSCAAR Modifieds and Bone Stock Enduro for a 7:30pm start time. For complete event details, visit www.delawarespeedway.com.
