@OhswekenSpdway • @11teamturner19 • – Caistor Centre, Ontario - Cory, Jamie, and Ryan Turner and the Team Turner Racing crew ended the month of May by finishing 7th, 8th, and 9th respectively on Friday night at Ohsweken Speedway.
The team was back at Ohsweken for the third round of weekly racing for the Corr/Pak Merchandising 360 Sprint Car division. All three TTR drivers were able to transfer to the 20 lap feature directly from their heat races, with Cory finishing high enough to earn a spot in the redraw for feature starting positions.
"I was pretty happy with the car in the heat race," Cory noted. "I just need to find the bottom of the race track sooner! I started running the high line and got passed by a couple cars. Once I moved down, I was able to gain a position which was key in making the redraw."
Cory drew the 7th starting spot for the feature, while Ryan started 13th, and Jamie started 15th. Cory stuck to the low groove and brought home a 7th place finish, while Jamie used the high side of the track to advance to 8th, with Ryan right on his tail in 9th. Ryan's 9th place was his second top ten finish and highest finish to date in his rookie Sprint Car season.
"I was lacking a little drive off (the corners) near the end of the feature, but all in all it was a good night," Cory said. "(Jamie) passed my brother on the last lap, and has made sure to remind him about it multiple times. It was a great run for (Ryan) considering the mechanical issues he faced the week before."
Cory attended the "Touch a Truck" fundraiser for local elementary schools at the Ancaster Fairgrounds on Saturday, and gave hundreds of kids a chance to sit in his #19 Sprint Car.
"We were able to interact with many of our fans and promote our marketing partners," said Cory. "It was a great day, and we are looking forward to supporting this event next year as well!"
Jamie, Cory, and Ryan have a doubleheader weekend coming up. They'll be back at Ohsweken on Friday before competing at South Buxton Raceway near Chatham, Ontario for the first time on Saturday.
"This week is sponsor appreciation night at Ohsweken," Cory said. "We are looking forward to having many of our marketing partners join us at the track for a barbecue after the races!"
