@NewHumberstone • PORT COLBORNE, ONTARIO... Two-time defending track champion Gary Lindberg from Ridgeway, Ontario was victorious in the PC Works DIRTcar Sportsman on Tidyman Maintenance and Port Colborne Laundry night at the Humberstone Speedway.
Dennis Lunger Jr from Albion, Pennsylvania continued his winning ways as he picked up his seventh Pinty's RUSH Late Model feature of the season. Jason Fontaine from Port Colborne, Ontario won his fourth JC Auto Street Stocks feature of the season. Kyle Rothwell from Welland, Ontario picked up his third Cosco Haulage Mini Stocks feature of the 2015 campaign. Mike Toovey from St. Catharines, Ontario picked up his seventh Mike Knapp Ford Pro 4 Trucks feature of the season. Rick St. Pierre from Welland, Ontario took home the checkered flag in the Vintage Car feature. Chris Dama picked up the win in the 25 lap Eve of Destruction Enduro.
Jordan Cosco and Tyler Puchalski led the PC Works DIRTcar Sportsman to the green flag for their main event with Cosco showing the way. Gary Lindberg would pass Cosco on lap two to take over the race lead. After an early race caution, Lindberg would jump out front over Puchalski and Joey Mastrioanni, who took over third from Cosco. Lindberg would pull away from the field as Adam Leslie would take over fourth. Leslie would spin in turn one after having contact with Robert Baker to bring out the caution on lap eight. The restart would see Lindberg pull away as Cody McPherson worked his way back through the field to take over third from Cosco and then would pass Puchalski to take over second on lap 10. Austin Wood would spin in turn two to bring out the caution on lap 10. Lindberg and McPherson would pull away from Puchalski Jeff Armstrong and Jordan Cosco racing in the top five. Adam Leslie, Jordan Cosco and Robert Baker came together on the front stretch with two laps remaining to bring out the caution. The late race restart would see Lindberg drive away from McPherson to pick up the feature win. Tyler Puchalski would finish in third and was followed by Joey Mastrioanni and Jeff Armstrong.
Luke Carleton and Adam Sixt were on the front row for the Pinty's RUSH Late Models 20 lap main event with Carleton showing the way early. Rob Pietz would take over second from Sixt. Lunger would get around Sixt on lap four and then would go after the lead duo. Pietz would take over the lead on lap nine. Lunger would take over second from Carleton after having a side by side battle for several laps. Lunger would reel in Pietz with five laps remaining and would complete the pass with three laps remaining. Lunger would drive away to his seventh win on the season.
Bryce Richardson and Kyle Pelrine brought the field of JC Auto Street Stocks to the green flag for their 20 lap feature event with Richardson showing the way early and it was Chris Crawford leading at the end of lap one. Kyle Pelrine would take over second with Jason Fontaine running in third. Fontaine would then work his way around Pelrine to take over second before the halfway point. Derek VanMil spun in turn four to bring out the caution on lap 11. The restart would see Crawford showing the way with Fontaine in second. Fontaine would take over the lead on lap 13. Crawford would try to challenge Fontaine for the lead, however, Fontaine was able to pull away from the field and pick up the victory.
Jason Coutu and Rob Goulding shared the front row for the Cosco Haulage Mini Stocks with Goulding showing the way. Kyle Rothwell would then take over the lead after passing Goulding on lap two. Rothwell would open up his advantage over Goulding with Brandon Iudiciani in third. Rothwell would drive away from Goulding and Iudiciani to sweep the weekend and pick up his third win of the season.
Craig Vlasic and Andy Imbeault led the field of Mike Knapp Ford Pro 4 Trucks to the green flag for their main event with Vlasic showing the way. Danny Wurster would take over the lead on lap four with Mike Toovey taking over second. Toovey would reel in Wurster and would go side by side for several circuits. Toovey would take over the lead with two laps remaining and would pull away to earn his seventh win of the season.
Mark Shadwell and Conrad Baker led the field of Vintage Cars to the green flag for their main event with Shadwell showing the way. Rick St. Pierre would blast by Shadwell on lap four to take over the race lead. St. Pierre would drive away to score the win.
PORT NOTES: The anticipation continues to build for the annual All-Canadian Championships on Sunday August 2nd. Lap sponsorships are now available for all divisions. The stockcar report for July 12th saw 19 Sportsman, 10 Late Models, 15 Street Stocks, 12 Mini Stocks 11 Pro 4 Trucks, six Vintage Cars and 15 Enduro cars get signed in pitside.
Next Sunday, the cars and the stars of the Sweeney Chevy, Buick, GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Series Tour will invade Humberstone for the Canadian Late Model Nationals presented by Dilts Piston Hydraulics. Gates will swing open at 4:30pm with racing starting at 6:30pm sharp. A full card of DIRTcar Sportsman, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and Pro 4 Trucks will round out the racing program.
