@Sunset_Speedway • INNISFIL, ON (August 3, 2015) - On Saturday night at Sunset Speedway, Rick Walt would run well in both features, posting a pair of top-five finishes.
Walt started off the night by posting a lap of 15.073 seconds to start 11th in the first 35-lap feature. Starting the feature mid-pack, he would drop back a spot in the early going, but moved back into 11th at the first caution with 20 laps to go.
Following the restart, he would begin his climb to the front, moving into the eighth spot at lap 20, getting alongside Gord Shepherd for seventh at lap 28. He was then able to complete the pass a lap later. He then got alongside Nick Goetz for sixth at lap 30. Going into turn three, Shepherd would dive in hard, getting inside of both Walt and Goetz, while getting into the back of Zardo. The result would be both Zardo and Goetz going for the spin in the corner. Walt was able to keep it straight, moving up into the sixth spot.
He would then get by Dwayne Baker on the restart to move into fifth, and got by Goetz in the final laps to finish the first feature in fourth.
With the 14-car invert in place, Walt would start the second feature from the 11th spot. He would run in the 11th spot through the first half of the feature, before moving up into 10th at lap 21. Over the course of the next couple restarts combined with battling hard, Walt made his march to the front of the field, moving into fifth before the checkered flag fell.
For Walt, he now has eighth top-10s on the season, highlighted by six top-five finishes.
