Glenn Styres scores 50th career SOS win, at Humberstone

@SOSSprints • @NewHumberstone • PORT COLBORNE, ON – "The Ohsweken Flyer" Glenn Styres from Ohsweken, Ontario was victorious in the second visit of the season by the Southern Ontario Sprints (SOS) on Zanchin Truck and Trailer Night at the Humberstone Speedway. For Styres, it was his 50th career A-Main victory.

Brad Rouse from St. Catharines, Ontario picked up the victory in the PC Works DIRTcar Sportsman. 16 year old Colton Ledingham from Port Colborne, Ontario won his first career Pinty's RUSH Late Model feature. Jason Fontaine from Port Colborne, Ontario won his sixth JC Auto Street Stock feature of the season. Kyle Rothwell from Welland, Ontario won his fifth Cosco Haulage Mini Stocks feature of the season. Mike Toovey from St. Catharines, Ontario won his tenth Mike Knapp Ford Pro 4 Trucks feature of the season.

Ryan Turner and Adam West led the SOS Sprints to the green flag for their A-Main and it was Turner showing the way over West with Glenn Styres and Chris Steele moving into the top four on the opening circuit. Darren Zumpe and Frank Baranowski spun in turn two to bring out the races first caution. The caution would result in an original restart, and it would be Turner showing the way over Styres with Sean Sliter moving into third at the end of the first scored lap.

Mitch Brown would move into fourth place after passing Cory Turner and Cory, winner of the race Saturday night at Brighton, looped his racer in turn four to bring out the caution on lap two. The restart saw Ryan Turner continue to show the way over "The Ohsweken Flyer" Glenn Styres and Styres would take over the lead on lap four after passing Turner on the outside of turn four. Mitch Brown, Jim Huppunen continued to make treks towards the front of the field as they both were in the top five by lap five.

The leaders would hit lap traffic for the first time on lap seven as Styres started to open up his advantage over the rest of the field. The battle was on for third place prior to the halfway mark as Chris Steele and Mitch Brown battled with Brown taking the position away and then on lap 12, would pass Ryan Turner to move into the runner up spot and would begin to chase down Styres. Steele would pass Turner to move into third place as the cross-flags were displayed over the field. Steele would reel in Brown for second place as Styres continued to open up the lead over the rest of the field.

Steele would use a lap car as a pick and would take over second place with five laps remaining. Styres would pull away from Steele and would drive on to score the victory, his fourth of the 2015 SOS season. Chris Steele, Mitch Brown, Ryan Turner and Jim Porter would complete the top five. "This has to be the best season I have ever had in a sprint car" stated Styres in victory lane. "I'm happy with second place tonight. We have had a tough year and it feels good to have a good night tonight" stated the Reel Deal Chris Steele. "We weren't as good as Glenn and Chris but it was a good night for us" stated third place finisher Mitch Brown.

Brad Rouse and Cody McPherson shared the front row for the PC Works DIRTcar Sportsman to the green flag for their 25 lap feature event with Rouse showing the way. Rouse, McPherson, Austin Wood, James Michael Friesen and Gary Lindberg raced in the top five for the entire feature distance. Austin Wood would take over second on lap seven from McPherson, Lindberg raced his way into third on lap 10 and set his sights on Wood and race leader Rouse. Lindberg would catch Wood and would pass Wood to move into second place on lap 13. As the leaders entered heavy lap traffic, Lindberg would cut into Rouse's lead and was within three car lengths but Rouse was able to hold off Lindberg to collect the checkered flag.

Rob Pietz and Sam Pennacchio led the Pinty's RUSH Late Models to the green flag for their 20 lap feature event and it was Pietz showing the way with Jeff Dayman running in second. Brandon Mowat raced his way into fourth place with "The Fireball" Colton Ledingham passing Dennis Lunger into fifth place and charged towards the front of the field. Ledingham would move into second place and began charging after Pietz. Ledingham would complete the pass on the outside of turn two on lap 10 to take over the race lead. Ledingham would open up his advantage over the rest of the field and would drive away to his first career Late Model win. Pietz, Mowat, Pennacchio and Sopaz completed the top five.

Vince Fargnoli had the lead off the drop of the green flag for the 20 lap feature for the JC Auto Street Stocks. Fontaine would take over the lead on lap two as Chris Crawford and Jim Lampman moved into the top three. Fontaine would open up his advantage over the rest of the field. Lampman would pass Crawford to move into second on lap 11. Fontaine continued to stretch his lead over the rest of the field and would drive away to pick up the win.

Brandon Iudiciani and Rob Overholt shared the front row for the Cosco Haulage Mini Stocks to the green flag for their 15 lap shootout and it was Overholt showing the way over Lafantaisie and Iudiciani. Lafantaisie would take over the lead on lap two. Iudiciani would regain the lead on lap seven. Iudiciani, Rothwell and Goulding battled for the lead in a great three car battle for much of the fifth teen lap feature. Rothwell would take the lead on the final lap and would go on to score the win, his fifth of 2015.

Steve Vanderzanden and Cole Hardy led the Mike Knapp Ford Pro 4 Trucks to the green flag with Vanderzanden showing the way. Mike Toovey took over the lead on lap three after going inside of Vanderzanden. Vanderzanden's strong run came to an end before the halfway mark after suffering a flat right rear tire. Toovey would stretch out his lead over the rest of the field but the large lead would be evaporated after the caution came out on lap 11 for debris on the front stretch. The restart saw Toovey take off and would drive on to score his tenth win on the season.
