@djkracing • @NASCARHomeTrack • @CTMPOfficial • (August 30, 2015) Bowmanville, ON- Once again the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team and driver DJ Kennington rebounded from a difficult set of circumstances, this time during round number 10 of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series on Sunday at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP).
After being forced to start at the back of the grid due to a precautionary motor change Kennington charged back through the competition and scored a fourth place result.
During practice on Saturday the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge performed well posting some speedy lap times during both sessions. It was after the qualifying laps late in the day that Kennington felt something was amiss.
"We just seemed to be a bit low on power and we didn't want to have an issue during the race" explained the driver.
That meant a late night for the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team as they swapped motors to prepare for the race on Sunday morning. Once the green flag waved Kennington was on the charge gaining positions at every opportunity.
"I had a lot of confidence in the car" said the driver. "Our set up and everything else worked maybe even a little better than we expected" he added.
Four caution periods during the 51 lap race would help bunch the field up for Kennington to continue his push forward in the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge.
"The restarts got pretty hairy. There was a lot of good hard driving and we were up to the challenge. On that last restart there was an opportunity to grab a couple more spots and it worked out for us" he stated.
At the checkered flag Kennington would cross the line fourth in the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge and congratulate the team on their efforts.
"What a group of guys we've got. They've worked super hard all year and then we had this to deal with, no matter what they just keep digging, really proud of them".
Kennington's fifth top five result of the year also moves him up into fifth place in the overall standings with the final race coming up September 19th at Kawartha Speedway near Peterborough, ON.
