Round 2 of Woolner Memorial at Full Throttle Speedway This Weekend

@OSCAARRacing • @FTMSpeedway • (September 10, 2015)- The HOOSIER Mods and Midas Midgets enjoyed a much deserved Labour Day weekend off, but it is time to get back to business this weekend at Full Throttle Speedway.

HOOSIER Mods: The annual Rick Woolner memorial is the event that every Mod driver looks to add to their racing resume. With the event returning in 2015 to the home of the Memorial everyone wanted to do something special.

This years' event was divided into two separate events to determine the over all winner of the Woolner Memorial this year. Way back in June sixteen Hoosier Mod teams signed in to battle at the high banks of Full Throttle. When the checker waved at the end of the 50 lap feature event it was the #39 of Shane Stickel picking up his first feature win in OSCAAR competition and giving him the advantage heading into Round #2.  Gary Elliott started last in the feature event, but used his patience to earn him a second place finish in the feature event.

Defending memorial winner, the three time and defending OSCAAR Mod Champion and Full Throttle legend, Gary McLean suffered through a rough night at his home track but still brought home a third place finish. Chad Strawn was making his first ever start at Full Throttle and came home fourth with rookie driver #99 AJ Emms recording his top finish of the year of fifth place.

So fans will need to remember at the conclusion of the 50 lap feature event the drivers will take their finish from the June event add it to their finish this weekend and divide it by two. The driver with the lowest average will be the 2015 Rick Woolner Memorial winner.  If by chance there is a tie for the top spot, the tie will be broken by the driver that had the best finishing position from the June event.

Fans will not have to worry about doing the math as the OSCAAR officials will be right on top of the situation all night long. Mod fans will just have to sit back and enjoy the best in open wheel competition.

While everyone will be focused on the Memorial winner this event is still a full points night for the 2015 Championship. Currently defending champion Gary McLean has  strong hold on the lead but the battle for second through fifth is anyone's game right now.

Current top five in points: 1st #8 Gary McLean 555pts, 2nd 36 Gary Elliott 488 pts, 3rd 79h Cory Horner 482 pts, 4th #63 John Baker JR 479 pts, 5th #47 Brian McLean 468 pts

Round 1 Woolner Memorial Feature finish: 1st #39 Shane Stickle, 2nd #36 Gary Elliott, 3rd #8 Gary McLean, 4th #77 Chad Strawn 5th #99 AJ Emms, 6th #09 Dan Price, 7th #88 Ryan Dick, 8th #88r Tommy Robb, 9th #20 Mike Hearty, 10th #63 John Baker JR, 11TH #13eh Mark Saul, 12th #14 Davey Terry, 13th #12 David Balych, 14th #79h Cory Horner, 15th #47 Brian McLean, 16th #19 Dean Scott

Midas of Orangeville Midgets:  The midgets will be making their second appearance at Full Throttle Speedway as part of the Memorial event.

It was back in June that the #2 of Jesse James laid down the law, made OSCAAR history by becoming the first female to win a feature event.  The season for the #2 since has been good and bad, but coming off a photo finish for second at Flamboro, fans can expect to see the #2 of James looking to make it a clean sweep in 2015 at Full Throttle.

Jesse can expect about 25 of her closest racing friends to be there to ensure if she does win she going to have to earn it. Current  points  leader #5 Jody Bound battled side by side with the #2 at Flamboro taking the second spot by inches. Look for the #5 to be part of the battle this weekend.  The Woodland brothers have each taken a turn atop the points lead and both have tasted victory in 2015. Both would love to be celebrating in victory lane after the 30 lap feature event. The #18 of Paul Draganoc has been one of the fastest cars week in week out, but still searching for the elusive feature win, perhaps it might just come at Full Throttle. Brain McDonald and his #42 machine has been a fixture in the top 5 in points all season long and consistency might just reward them with their first feature win of the 2015 season.

As the season as rolled along, the competition throughout the field is getting stronger and stronger, with a top ten on a given night is a great accomplishment. With over 24 cars expected to be in attendance, the first order of business will be the heat races and ensuring a strong enough finish as not to be in the dreaded  B main.  The Full Throttle Speedway high banks is perfect of the Midgets as fans can expect to see two or three wide, and sometimes four-wide racing all night long. With only three events remaining in 2015, every point counts and everyone will be gunning for that feature win.

Current top 5 in points: 1st #5 Jody Bound 623 pts, 2nd #48 Brian Woodland 601 pts, 3rd #18 Paul Draganoc 603 pts, 4th #84 Richard Woodland 599 pts, 5th #42 Brian McDonald 572 pts
