9th in Hoosier OSCAAR Modified Points: David Balych

@OSCAARRacing • (October 28, 2015)-  Making the move from Lucas Oil Can-Am Midgets to OSCAAR Modified competition in 2015, David Balych would have a solid rookie season en route to finishing ninth in points.

Balych proved early in the season that he would be someone to keep an eye on all year, but ran into issues through the summer that brought forth some finishes outside of the top-10. He also showed diversity as a driver, scoring his four top-10 finishes at three different tracks across the schedule.

The driver of the No. 12 Scotiabank, Mosaic Investments, Knowledge and Needles, Kake Kreations and Buzzbomb Race Paint Modified started off the season with his best finish of the year, finishing in the top-10 in the season opener at Sunset Speedway. While problems plagued his competitors, Balych kept his nose clean and came across the finish line with a seventh place finish. He then backed it up with another solid run when the series returned to Sunset Speedway the following month, finishing ninth.

The first trip of the year to Full Throttle Motor Speedway brought excitement for Balych, as he would score his first career heat victory. Unfortunately, the feature didn't go as hoped with a 13th place finish. The Caledon, Ontario native didn't let that get him down, though, as he would head to Delaware Speedway a month later, finishing ninth.

As mentioned, the summer months didn't treat Balych kindly with no top-10 finishes. However, he was able to crack the top-15 in three of the six races despite the adversity and problems the team faced.

Balych was able to end his year on a good note, though, as a second trip of the season to Peterborough Speedway saw Balych once again put in a good, solid clean performance en route to finishing seventh.

With his rookie year behind him, he'll certainly be a driver to watch next year, and a possible top-five contender if everything comes together.
