6th in Dickies OSCAAR Outlaws Presented by LRR Points – Shane Gowan

@OSCAARRacing • (November 20, 2015)- With only one finish outside of the top-10 all season, combined with an immense level of determination, Shane Gowan had an impressive season en route to finishing sixth in the final Dickies OSCAAR Outlaws Presented by London Recreational Racing points standings.

Notably, Gowan’s year stated off on a very rough note as he would blow the motor in his primary during practice laps for the Spring Velocity on Saturday. Determined to not let it get him down, Gowan made the five hour plus round trip to get the back-up car, returning to the track to run the main event on Sunday. Despite getting involved in a wreck and suffering some damage, Gowan kicked off his 2015 campaign on a solid note with a ninth place finish.

"The team battle hard and put in some very log hours to get this back up car on the track" said crew chief Kelly Hallett per GowanRacing.com. "We are proud of that and we will move on to the next race looking for more.”

The return trip to Sunset Speedway in June would go smoother without any mechanical issues or incidents, but resulted in a 10th place finish as the team battled handling issues.

Over the next three weeks, the finish would certainly improve. Gowan kicked off the month of July with a finish of ninth at Delaware Speedway. He would then take the No. 39 Lucas Oil, Reclaim Enterprises, Hallett Fabrication, Stop53 Diner, Creative Edge Signs & Graphics, and Douglas Engines SLM to Peterborough Speedway, scoring his best finish of the year with a sixth place finish.

The next three events would see the top-10 trend continue, despite racing at three different tracks. Gowan would finish seventh at Sunset Speedway, followed by a 10th at Flamboro Speedway and an eighth at Peterborough Speedway.

Unfortunately, a mis-handling car would result in Gowan’s string of top-10s ending at the Velocity 250 with an 11th place finish. The series veteran didn’t give up, though, bouncing back at Peterborough’s Autumn Colours Classic for a seventh place finish.

Given the solid consistency of Gowan’s program, look for it to continue to grow and improve in 2016.
