Stirling, ON Racer Willow Barberstock to be Featured on the ‘WS Daily‏

@CKWS_TV • Stirling, ON (June 4, 2015)- Today's fresh crop of racing talent has advantages those in generations before them could only dream of. There are so many development programs and feeder series in existence, their chances of on-track success are all but guaranteed.

By the time she had taken her first laps in an entry-level 4 cylinder stock car – on a venue nicknamed Canada's Toughest 1/3-Mile Paved Oval – Willow Barberstock had already spent several seasons gaining experience and confidence by racing a go kart at the legendary Mosport/Canadian Tire Motorsport Park road course, but had yet to celebrate her 13th birthday. Even with the knowledge she'd procured, the talented teenager from Stirling, Ontario admits there was still a great deal she still didn't know once the Peterborough Speedway 4Fun machine became her regular ride in 2013.

"I really 'went to school' that first year in the stock car," admitted Barberstock. "When I wasn't on the track, I paid attention to where the other drivers were running and talked to people in my division and others who were racing there. It really helped me get more out of the car and provide some information to my grandfather – Randy Hollingsworth, who runs with the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series – and those who work on my equipment."

Barberstock's racing education continued through the 2014 campaign, with several trips to victory lane and a track title in the 4Fun division. At 14 years of age, she became the youngest female champion in the history of Peterborough Speedway.

Tuesday, June 9 Willow Barberstock – who now competes with the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series – will be featured on "The 'WS Daily" on CKWS Television (Kingston, Ontario) and interviewed by host Bill Welychka. The segment will air live at 5:00 and is available on Cogeco channel 11 in the Belleville/Trenton area. The station's programming is also available on Shaw Direct and Bell Expressvu satellite. Check with individual providers for the channel location.

Following the live broadcast, the segment can be seen at www.ckwstv.com.

The next on track activity for the driver of the #62W Ontario Modifieds Racing Series machine will be Saturday, June 27 at Flamboro Speedway and Saturday, July 4 at Peterborough Speedway.
