OSCAAR’S 25th Anniversary Season Continues at Sunset Speedway

@OSCAARRacing • @Sunset_Speedway • (June 5, 2015)- Mother Nature may have taken the win last weekend. But it is a new week and Ontario's premier racing teams are ready to kick the season back into high gear this weekend at Sunset Speedway.

For the first time OSCAAR will showcase all three of their premier divisions with complete show on Saturday for the OSCAAR The Midas of Orangeville Midgets, The Hoosier Modifieds and The Dickies Outlaw Super Late Models.  Fans will want to arrive early to take part in the prerace autograph session, where you can meet the cars and stars of the series. The complete schedule of events can be found on the OSCAAR website at www.oscaar.ca or at www.sunsetspeedway.ca .

The Dickies OSCAAR Outlaws presented by London Recreational Racing:

With the second event of the season losing out to weather last weekend, the Outlaws are set to return to Sunset Speedway for the second time in 2015.  The opening round of the series would see preseason championship hopeful Kevin Cornelius picking up the feature win. Capturing his best series finish b10 Kelly Balson recorded a second place finish with #07 Todd Campbell rounding out the top three. The return to Sunset Speedway will see a couple of teams looking for redemption as the #29 of Sean Grosman and #84 JR Fitzpatrick showed the speed to win, but were both sidelined early. Several teams where very happy to have the extra week to prepare for this event. With the USA Memorial Day holiday it put several teams in jeporady of missing last weeks' event. The rain dance worked and will allow the #22 of Glenn Watson, #7 Derrick Tiemersma and #42 Tyler Hawn to be ready for competition this coming weekend.  The Outlaws are ready to show the fans some exciting racing this weekend with a complete show of heats and 50 lap feature event.

Top Five in Points: 1st #17 Kevin Cornelius 72pts, 2nd #b10 Kelly Balson 66pts, 3rd #07 Todd Campbell 64pts, 4th (tie) #82 Cory Jones - #40p Charlie Gallant 62 pts

Inside Track Hard Charger :  1st #51 Mike Bentley 10 pts, 2nd #39 Shane Gowan  9pts, 3rd #82 Cory Jones 8 pts, 4th #17 Kevin Cornelius 7pts, 5th #13 Gary Passer 6 pts

The HOOSIER OSCAAR Modified Series:

If fans were not at the opening Hoosier Modified event, they missed one of the best feature events of the Spring Velocity Weekend. The open wheel stars put on a great race through out the entire field. Gary McLean picked up his first feature win of the season, but I think he be the first one to say, the 2015 field is going to provide some great competition. The 30 lap feature event would see Gary have a race long battle with the #39 of Shane Stickle who did everything that he could hoping to record his first series win.  Rounding out the top three was the #79h of Cory Horner, who gave notice although the rookies might have that yellow stripe on their cars, they are ready to compete with the veterans of the series. Several teams where looking to make their debut at Flamboro Speedway this past weekend, but the weather changed their plans. Fans can expect to see a full field of the top open wheeled Hoosier Modifieds this weekend at Sunset Speedway

Top Five in Points: 1st #8 Gary McLean 72pts, 2nd #39 Shane Stickle 70pts, 3rd #79h Cory Horner 69 pts, 4th #36 Gary Elliott 66 pts, 5th #77 Chad Strawn 65pts

Inside Track Hard Charger:  1st #47 Brian McLean 10pts, 2nd #12 David Balych 9pts, 3rd #88r Tommy Robb 8 pts, 4th #79h Cory Horner 7 pts, 5th #39 Shane Stickle 6 pts

The Midas of Orangeville Midget Series:

The Midas of Orangeville Midgets are the only OSCAAR series to have two events under their belts after a stand alone show at Peterborough Speedway. The season has seen some great racing, some accidents, two different feature winners heading into this weekends' event at Sunset Speedway. After his feature win at Peterborough Speedway 2 weeks ago #84 Richard Woodland now sits atop of the 2015 season standings. With plenty of racing left in 2015, fans can expect to see every driver jockey for every position to gather those valuable championship points. To pick a favorite coming into this event is next to impossible. For the past two events the #18 of Paul Draganoc has been the top qualifier but has been shut of feature victory lane so far in 2015. Defending Champion #83 Jamie Bound missed the last event after picking up the first feature of the season. If the team hopes to defend this weekend will be the time to start to dig themselves out of that points hole they now find themselves in. With an average car count of 27 over the first two races, fans can once again look forward to another full field of Midas Midgets this weekend at Sunset Speedway.

Top Five in Points: 1st #84 Richard Woodland 133pts, 2nd #48 Brian Woodland 127 pts, 3rd #18 Paul Draganoc 127 pts, 4th #42 Brian MacDonald 126 pts, 5th #5 Jody Bound 122 pts

Inside Track Hard Charger:  1st #26 Katherine Summers - #17 Mike McLaughlin 14pts, 3rd #69 Wally Wilson 10pts, 4th #48 Brian Woodland 9 pts, 5th #83 Jamie Bound 8 pts

OSCAAR would like to thank their dedicated fans, teams and sponsors for all their support the past 25 years and look forward to bringing race fans the best in racing this season!
