Niagara Falls Nissan as hosts of the Modified Lite Weekend are revved up to move Merrittville Speedway's 2015 Season to a close with the 64th Season Triple Header Finale that features the 2 day TUSA Canadian National Event Friday September 11th and Saturday September 12th.
While the tripleheader is anchored by the two day Modified Lite Special that boasts more than $14,000 is cash and more than $3,000 in Contingency Awards, also in the spotlight are the Southern Ontario Sprints, 4 Cylinder Cars and Trucks in addition to Heats for Sunday's 100 lap Ballhockey.com Enduro accelerated by Niagara College on the Opening Night presented by Rev's Full Throttle Powersports.
Saturday Night's Event presented by Lucas Oil has Twin 50 lap Events on tap.
The $1000 to win Hoosier Stock Duel on the Dirt 50 lap event will see Team Merrittville Drives take on the Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks that call the Brighton Speedway home and for the first time in the friendly rivalry ... the Affordable Towing & Recovery Thunder Stocks from the Ohsweken Speedway and the JC Auto Street Stocks from Humberstne Speedway take each other on.
Saturday Night's program also includes the Sportsman Super DIRTcar Series with a 50 lap Event expected to draw top Sportsman Teams from across the Northeast.
The 64th Season comes to a close in a Sunday Afternoon Tradition – Smash-o-rama!.
The 100 lap Ballhockey.com Enduro accelerated by Niagara College will join an all new for 2015 Monster Truck Show.
"It's quite an exciting end to the season," reveals (Merrittville Speedway GM) Erica Bicknell-Jones, "race fans won't want to miss a night or afternoon .... There's no other event that draws such a diverse field of Modified Lites ... the Street Stocks also put on quite a show as do the Sportsman and then Sunday ... you've never seen anything like it ... the Enduro is like a traffic jam on the QEW ... only with no rules."
The Annual Modified Lite International Championship for the Mod Lites attracts some of the best Drivers from across the United States - the States of Iowa, Texas, South Carolina, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New York, Georgia, Ohio, California and others have been represented over the years.
The invaders of course will challenge Merrittville Speedway's regular Rev's Full Throttle Powersports Drivers that compete weekly at the Thorold track.
16 years ago, Jim Varble, the then president of the NYDCA, set the groundwork for a special night to showcase the Classic Division each fall.
When Lee Webber won two Merrittville Speedway Points Championships, he also served as treasurer of the club now known as the Southern Ontario Modified Lite Racing Association and his wife Rose Marie was an integral part of both as well. Rose Marie was diagnosed with cancer and after a courageous battle, succumbed to the disease.
Fellow driver Wally Billing was a good friend of both Lee and Rose and wanted to honor Rose by making the International Race a memorial to her and for 10 years her memory was celebrated.
"We're proud to host this event that will pit the best Street Stockers from across Ontario," boasts Bicknell-Jones, "it will definitely compliment the Modified Lite teams that visit us as well ... and with the Sportsmen Super DIRTCar Series ... the pit area will be at capacity at each event."

Showtime Friday and Saturday Nights is at 7:00 after the gates open at 5:30. For Sunday's Enduro – the Grandstand opens at 11:30 with the first event set for 1 PM.
